Join the Fun – Audition with us!
Auditions for the 2017/18 season are Sunday, September 10th from 3 pm – 7:30 pm and Monday, September 11th from 3:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestras has two, tiered string orchestras for intermediate and advanced string players. Students in our first orchestra, the Sinfonietta, play at least at an end of Suzuki book two level and range in age from approximately 8 to 13 years old. The Senior Orchestra, comprises of advanced middle and high school students. We are also excited about offering a Debut Orchestra for the first time this season!
One of the highlights of our organization is that our students are constantly performing in the community. In addition to our three formal concerts, we have performed at the farmer’s market, libraries, orchestra festivals, rehab centers, Pacific Place downtown Seattle and local schools. Additionally, the Senior Orchestra will have the opportunity to perform in a side-by-side concert with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra in February of 2018. In both our orchestras we strive to produce the most artistically worthy and educationally rich experiences possible.
This year we are offering a discount for families with more than one student, and financial aid is also available with board approval. We are also featuring a new volunteer policy, encouraging wider opportunities for families to be a part of the action behind the scenes. The youth orchestra is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We depend upon volunteers, donations and community support to maintain this musical opportunity. Tuition only covers about half of the annual operating costs.
